Abbeyleix Further Education and Training Centre offer a selection of Return to Learning Level 4 courses. Open to all learners regardless of life experience and education the Return to Learning course offers three different streams to gaining a Level 4 qualification. The course is extremely valuable to potential students who might not have aquired their leaving Cert.
The programme is designed to give anyone a second chance at an educational qualification that could lead to progression and development onto further education and eventually higher education. The course modules have been created to help learners begin their journey to their first or new career opportunity.
Return to Learning course options
There are four options available to learners to study at level 4:
- Return to Learning with Horticulture (QQI Level 4)
- Return to Learning with Art, Craft & Design (QQI Level 4)
- Return to Learning with Business and IT (QQI Level 4)
- Return to Learning with Healthcare/Science (QQI Level 4)
Which ever stream you choose the additional options offered are the same:

Free Course
And the best news is the course is free.
There are no registration or tuition fees payable to Abbeyleix Further Education and Training Centre.
However please note cost of materials is approximately €100.
Free Transport
Did we mention the icing on the cake, Free Transport?
Free private bus transport is available from Portlaoise, Mountmellick, Portarlington, Rathdowney and Mountrath.
Students with their own transport are provided with free parking in the student car park at the rear of the Centre.
