Testimonials

Read what our past students have to say about their experience with the General Studies Level 4 course at Abbeyleix FETC

When I made a decision to return to education as a mature student, I decided to do the General Studies Course (with Craft, IT and Healthcare options) in Abbeyleix FETC. I felt that the combination of practical and academic modules best suited my learning needs. I thought this was a good starting point for me as I had been out of the Education system for over 25 years. The greatest learning for me was the interaction between my class mates and tutors. The General Studies class of 2019-2020 were a UNIQUE BUNCH OF PEOPLE and it was my privilege to get to know them. I now have a new family that I call friends (All different ages, nationalities and creeds) and I know I will continue to have these friendships for years to come. The bonding we had as a class was unreal, and the learning we did was far more than academic - It was more about human kindness. “A FRIEND IS A GIFT YOU GIVE YOURSELF” I am pleased to say I completed all of my modules both in class and by remote learning during the Corona Virus (Covid-19). This course has been a huge stepping stone and learning curve for me. It has created a hunger and passion in me to progress onto the Level 5 Art, Craft & Design course in the Centre. Thanks to all my Tutors for your excellence in teaching, guidance, understanding, helpfulness and most of all believing in ME.

General Studies 2019-2020
From the very first day to the last day I enjoyed every second of this course. The year was one of the best in my life so far. I got to not only spend the whole year learning, being creative, being pushed out of my comfort zone on a daily basis but I have made lifelong friends with my classmates and teachers. I am leaving having gained so much in terms of a new found confidence and new lease of life. I would definitely recommend this course as it provided a wide ranging curriculum that has something there for everyone. The course exceeded my expectations in that I got so much out of it personally and developed so much as an individual.
