Testimonials

Read what our past students have to say about their experience with the Leaving Certificate course at Abbeyleix FETC

Doing my Leaving Certificate in Abbeyleix FETC Centre in my opinion was the best choice I've ever made regarding my education. It took 19 years of my life to get somewhere where I was happy learning and I was motivated to work as I was in a place where I was comfortable. I can't recommend the Centre enough, every time I talk to someone about returning to education. I finished my Leaving Cert in 2020 which didn't go as planned due to Covid-19 but I'm very happy with the last two years and the results I obtained with the calculated grades process. I not only completed my Leaving Certificate but grew as a person & developed my talents. I will stay for another year and complete a QQI Level 5 course in Art and Animation to complete my Art portfolio.

School was never for me, I had little interest in it. I rarely went to class and dropped out after Junior Cert. As I got older I realised I wanted to go to college but didn’t have my Leaving Cert. I didn’t want to go back to a normal school at the age of 18. I found out about & went to the Abbeyleix FETC Open Day and I can honestly say that was one of the best decisions of my life. The help and support you get from the teachers is incredible. I found myself learning a lot faster and more efficiently as the teachers went over and explained things at my own pace. If I was stuck they had no problem stopping to explain. Even during lockdown & online classes, they adapted very quickly and continued teaching us and giving us all the support we needed. Two years ago I never thought I would have completed & passed my Leaving Cert, let alone make it into college, but thanks to everyone in Abbeyleix FETC that is now a reality. I am now doing a software development course in Carlow IT. I would like to thank all the staff at the Centre.
